The Dukhan Recreation club, DRC as it is now known is one of the oldest clubs managed by Qatar Petroleum. It is a senior staff club located in the heart of Dukhan Township. Way back till 1988 it wa
known as Dukhan Fields Club. Initially started with just one room and a badminton court for QPA employees has now grown over the years into a fabulous facility with a standard size swimming pool which was constructed in 1985. Garden and barbecue area, a children’s playroom, a business center, state-of-the art games room, family lounge, conference room, a well-stacked library, sports lounge, modern tennis court, and multi-purpose indoor stadia with spectator stands. Banqueting facilities with a band stage, ample parking space and a dedicated coffee shop by the poolside. It also has a traditional Tent with modern amenities and a mini traditional village.
DRC is generally a recreation club which remains as focal point for all major activities held in Dukhan Township. DRC plays host to highly placed ministers, ambassadors, dignitaries, official QP visitors.
Community functions like, the Annual Dukhan Women’s Association handicraft exhibition, Ramadan tournaments, Ramadan Iftars, Chairman’s Cup for badminton, regular Dukhan Toastmaster’s meetings, major Dukhan English School events and several other functions and tournaments are held here with a great sense of enthusiasm and organization.
DRC has a varied schedule of programs for its 500 members. Monthly darts, Bingo, Theme nights, Festive Dinners, Children parties, Picnics, and a Fabulous Annual Dinner are special feature of the club. The club is equipped all over with the latest electronics equipment and even a video games parlor for the children with the dedicated reading room. A special ladies only evening is organized every week by the pool side. Social evening night is held every Thursday.
DRC operates from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm on (Saturday – Wednesday), and 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight (Thursday & Friday). It is a place for the entire family to relax and enjoy themselves to the fullest especially Doha based members who find Dukhan a good getaway destination.
